What Is IT System?

An IT system is a combination of hardware, software, networks, data and people that work together to collect, store, process and deliver information for a specific purpose.

An IT system brings together the parts needed to do a job — for example, an order system combines a database, an application, a network and user devices so staff can take and track orders.

Most businesses run several IT systems: email, accounting/finance, a website, a CRM, file storage and more. Keeping them secure, fast and well-integrated is a core part of IT management.
