What Is SaaS (Software as a Service)?

SaaS (Software as a Service) is software delivered over the internet on a subscription basis, so you use it in a browser instead of installing and maintaining it yourself.

With SaaS, the provider hosts and maintains the software and you pay a recurring fee per user or plan. Examples include email suites, CRMs and accounting tools.

SaaS is fast to start, but costs grow with users and you’re limited to the product’s features. A custom web app can be a better long-term fit when you need something specific.
