What Is IT Governance?

IT governance is the set of policies, processes and accountability that ensures an organisation’s technology supports its goals, manages risk and meets compliance requirements.

IT governance answers questions like: who decides on technology spending, how do we manage risk and security, are we compliant with regulations, and is IT delivering value for the business.

Good governance brings structure to IT decisions — clear ownership, policies, and measurement — so technology is an asset rather than an unmanaged cost or risk.
