What Is Data Backup?
Data backup is the practice of keeping secure copies of your important data so it can be restored if the original is lost, corrupted, deleted or attacked.
Backups protect against hardware failure, human error, ransomware and disasters. A common best practice is the 3-2-1 rule: three copies, on two types of media, with one off-site.
Reliable, tested backups are a core part of IT management and website maintenance.
